For her Master thesis Carmen is currently investigating mollusc associations and biodiversity on coral reefs around Dahab.

Marc is a PhD student in behavioural ecology and together with his research assistant Hanaa he is looking at cooperative hunting behavior, stomach analysis and the ontogeny of yellowsaddle goatfish (Parupeneus cyclostomus).

In autumn 2011 students and scientists from Glasgow University conducted a field course in Tropical Marine Biology at the DMRC. The course introduced students to the biodiversity, ecology and conservation management of coral reefs, sea grasses and mangrove species and in methods for surveying and monitoring coral reefs. A special highlight was the overnight trip to Ras Mohammed National Park and the Nabq Managed Resource Protected Area.
